Vinny Mitchell Bio
Vinny Mitchell was a professional boxer himself, amassing a 12-1 record between 2007 and 2010. He was the brother of Kevin Mitchell, the former British champion and world title challenger.
Kevin Hart`s Brother Vinny Mitchell died in a motorcycle accident in Dagenham on 1st April 2019. He was at just 31 years old.
Vinny’s brother Kevin Mitchell, himself a professional boxer who has challenged for a world title, took to Twitter to post a tribute and a photograph of the pair together on holiday.
He wrote: “There are not many things I can say to say how the heart is broken I am.
“I love you Vinny Mitchell I promise I’ll make sure your kids will know who there [sic] dad was. It kills me. See you again someday brother.”
Other members of the boxing community have also paid tribute to the young father, with promoter Eddie Hearn tweeting: “So sorry to hear about the passing of Vinny Mitchell this evening – All our thoughts are with @KevinMitchell6 and the Mitchell family.”
Boxing trainer Peter Sims wrote: “I had the pleasure of training him a few years back and he was a true gentleman and a beautiful person and a proud family man.”
Former European champion Darren Barker added: “I tried to digest the terrible news of Vinny Mitchell passing all night, but I’m struggling. My brother Gary boxed Vinny a few times when they were kids, now neither are with us. I’m heartbroken. @KevinMitchell6 I love you brother and here for you all.”
Boxing journalist Len Whaley said that he had known Vinny since he was a schoolboy boxer, and knew the family well.
He said: “I have fond memories of a talented boxer and a very nice guy. RIP, Vinny.”
Frank Warren was Vinny’s promoter during his professional career and said he was “shocked and saddened” by the news.
“I worked with Vinny throughout his boxing career, he was a good lad, a pleasure to work with and be around,” he said.
“My deepest sympathies and thoughts are with [Vinny’s mum] Alice, Kevin and all the Mitchell family.”
